Contemporary Art 1930-2004

Tokyo's contemporary art scene is good, if not quite as active as you might expect for a city of such stature. Exhibitions in a wide range of venues feature work by both Japanese and non-Japanese artists.

This collection of original articles covers artists, exhibitions and institutions (including some of the more than 1,000 galleries and over 200 museums) in and around Tokyo, Japan.

The articles first appeared in magazines and newspapers in Japan and the USA including Art+Auction, Art in AmericaArt-iT, art/text, Metropolis (Tokyo) and Tokyo Classified magazines, and "Daily Mainichi" and "The Japan Times" newspapers. They are organized reverse chronologically from when they were published.
